Namco have been bringing some of their console titles to the PC, which is great, but some of the ports haven’t been stellar.

Among these is Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance; a port that didn’t quite hold up to the game itself, which we found to be pretty great. Chief among the issues is a framerate drop that occurs when the game is set to 1920 x 1080.

According to frustrated player reports, Revengeance automatically sets the refresh rate to 24hz at 1080p, if using a monitor connected using HDMI. Fortunately, a clever fan has fixed the issue and released it onto the Steam Community page.

Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance was lauded for bringing high-quality spectacle fighting to the PC.

“I’ve created something that reconfigures the default system and reverts it back after use for full screen at 60Hz,” writes user Xuthan. “It should work with windows 7 32bit/64bit but I’m unsure of anything other than W7.”

You can grab the fix from here, which includes the file and a short guide, as well as some ‘ideal conditions’.
