Call of Duty creator and founder of Respawn Entertainment Jason West have decided to leave the company.
According to Kotaku, West hasn’t been working for the company since way back in May due to complications with his family.
West, along with Vince Zampella, were responsible for founding Infinity Ward, the studio that made the Call of Duty franchise a world renowned first-person shooter title. However, in 2010 they were fired from the studio due to “breaches of contract and insubordination.” Their departure at the time was followed by the resignation of nearly half of all the staff of Infinity Ward.
More recently, the duo have been involved in a case involving Infinity Ward’s parent company Activision. The two claimed to have not received royalties from the sales of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2. This case was settled in May, around the same time when West was reported to have left.
