Vigil Games Lead Designer Haydn Dalton has confirmed that there will be no more new titles in the Darksiders series. The news comes in after Vigil Games failed to find a buyer at the THQ assets auction last week.

Angry Birds Creative Director Patrick Liu sent Dalton a tweet which read, “No More Darksiders! : ( Whyyyyy Crytek…” to which Dalton replied, “Tis true Pat… sometimes good things come to an end. That’s why you’ve gotta enjoy then while you can.”

Late last month, Crytek reportedly established a new studio in Austin, Texas, with some of the staff from Vigil Games including the former GM and co-owner David Adams who is now the CEO of Crytek USA Corp.

THQ president Jason Rubin tweeted regarding the acquisition, “Great news for Vigil, at least the core team. Thanks to Crytek for saving as much as they could of a fantastic team.”

However, Crytek CEO Cevat Yerli later expressed his lack of confidence in the Darksiders series stating that Darksiders 3 “doesn’t fit with [the company's] strategy” and that he didn’t what to continue with it.
