It’s only been officially announced for consoles, but 99% of the world are sure that GTA 5 will at some point be coming to PC. The modding community have ensured sales up to and beyond today, and the unlimited potential of PC architecture means that squeezing the absolute best out of those richly detailed mini-cities is something only the PC can handle.
That said, Rockstar have not confirmed the title on PC, but German retailer GamesOnly went ahead and listed a GTA5 special edition (which was later removed) with the following features:
- SteelBook with exclusive artwork
- World map
- Stunt-planes challenges
- Online-store concessions
- Bonus outfits
- Bonus tattoos
- Special abilities booster
- Exclusive weapons
When questioned about the authenticity of this information, GamesOnly told GTA-extreme.de that it was correct.
I personally believe the PC announcement is being held off because the game will likely come to next gen platforms. Announcing it at this juncture has the potential to harm current gen sales of the game, but since a PC release is so likely, so too is a port to the next generation of x86 consoles. Rockstar previously stated that they were happy working with what they knew (current console architecture), but a games development in that vein is much different to a porting project, which wouldn’t jeopardize the story or theme, since that would already be set in stone; it’s just a matter of cost, which would certainly be compensated with a good turnover given the three x86 platforms.
