Fans of Metro 2033 have been waiting almost an entire year more than what was expected, when numerous development and production spanners got thrown into the trepid works. Since acquisition of the IP from THQ to Kock Media, or Deep Silver, there has been one further delay – but this time, it comes with a date.

“The new release date is the ideal way to strike the balance between bringing the best out of Metro: Last Light and not keep the fans waiting longer than necessary. We won’t leave that time unexploited and will work closely together with 4A Games to make the game even better. It will receive all the attention it deserves.”

“We would like to thank all of the Metro fans for their patience. And we can assure them that we have a lot more coming their way with the franchise.”

The comments come from Dr. Klemens Kundratitz, the CEO of Koch Media, and Menno van der Bil, the international commercial director for Deep Silver.

The date for release currently stands at May 17 on Xbox 360, PS3, and PC. Metro 2033 was an exclusive to PC and Xbox 360.
