Overkill Software’s first-person shooter Payday 2 has sold 1.58 million copies and parent company Starbreeze Studios has hailed the game a success.

Starbreeze revealed in a note to investors (as translated by Eurogamer) that 80% of the sales or about 1.26 million were through digital means.

In August, Starbreeze forecasted that Payday 2 would already be highly profitable based on the number of pre-orders six days before its launch.

There are currently five expansions in development for Payday 2 and will launch throughout next year.

PCGMedia gave Payday 2 an 89/100 rating. You can check out our review here.
