Jagex have today announced that Runescape 3 will be released this month on July 22nd. The first Runescape was originally launched over twelve years ago, becoming popular due to it’s ability to be played within a browser. The game has traditionally been free-to-play, with membership options, and this is set to continue with Runescape 3.
The third iteration of the MMO will be run on an HTML5 engine, as opposed to the aging Java. The game still does not hold up to most modern MMOs graphically, but that’s never been the point with this game. Hopefully with Runescape 3, Jagex will continue to play on the series’ strengths by being fun, simple to learn and easy to get into.
