Scribblenauts Unmasked: A DC Comics Adventure was announced today by Warner Bros Interactive. Unveiled at a special pre-E3 event, the latest in the Scribblenauts series will feature every DC Comics hero and villain ever, from well loved characters like Matter-Eater Lad and Animal-Vegetable-Mineral Man to more obscure ones like ‘Batman’ and the ‘Joker’.

The Scribblenauts games allow players to be endlessly creative, by inviting them to use lead character Maxwell’s magic notebook to summon anything they can possibly think of in order to solve a range of problems. For example, if there’s a boulder blocking your way, you might decide to summon a “flying mega goat” holding a “long pink throbbing rocket launcher” in order to remove the obstacle. Players are, of course, encouraged to solve problems in the most imaginative, convoluted way possible. The Scribblenauts games are acclaimed for their inventiveness, and hopefully the use of an established, external license in Scribblenauts Unmasked won’t restrict any of the imagination seen in previous titles.

Developers 5th Cell are returning for this fourth game in the series, which will again feature Maxwell as the main character. As well as featuring an excessive cast of DC characters, players will also be able to mix and match different superpowers. Want to see Batman with angel wings and laser eyes? Go for it!

Scribblenauts Unmasked is set for an Autumn release, and will be available to play on PC, 3DS and Wii U.
