The PCGMedia team

Michael Cromwell

About: Michael is the Editor in Chief of PCGMedia, which entails issuing an automated “yes” response to every question posed by the staff. He is also a philosophy major, which is probably what ruined his relationship with Nintendo software. In charge of many of the key editorials, Michael has been praised for cogency and incisiveness by figures in local politics, but focuses most of his energy into the videogames industry, where things are often less volatile but always more entertaining.

Games: Final Fantasy’s VI, VIII, IX. Men of War series, and any RTS. Huge Arma fan, and dedicated PC gamer of the private decision persuasion.

Music: Hopelessly infatuated Kate Bush. Huge fan of Ryuichi Sakamoto and Joe Hisaishi. Nobuo Uematsu. Motorhead. Enjoy’s old school rock and metal. Contemporary classical and Italian baroque.

Academic focus: Political philosophy and the philosophy of language. Religious history. Ba Hons.

Contact: editor@pcgmedia or Twitter - expect automated “yes” responses. LinkedIn here.

Rickard Svensson

About: Rickard has been gaming for as long as he can remember. His interest started in front of the the TV back in the early 90’s when NES made its entrance, but it all evolved into a way of life when Quake made its debut. Since then he has been hooked, mainly enjoying games where you shoot heads into tiny blood-colored pixels. Behind the bloodthirsty facade is a swedish student in journalism who enjoys cooking, music and ice hockey. Currently finishing his degree in journalism while trying to play as many interesting PC-titles on the market as possible. He does not know Zlatan.

Games: Huge Battlefield-fan (Being a swede and all), ARMA, Walking Dead, Splinter Cell: Blacklist, Far Cry 3 and the Harvest Moon series.

Music: In Flames, Millencolin, Refused, Black Label Society, Old Guns N’ Roses, System of A Down.

Academic focus: Currently getting a degree in journalism.

Miguel Rey Garcia

About: Miguel reviews videogames – writes stuff – directed an advertisement or two. Miguel dabbles in a lot of random things and is fortunate because he gets to do the things he loves. He has been playing shooters since he “was a babe,” and qualified in his first cash tournament when he was 12. Shooters are his home, and he loves brutal difficulty levels. He does enjoy the occasional RPG and fighting game. He used to play for the Fakkel Brigade in the ETF2L and Miguel has been changing his name a lot because he’s “grown up,” but now he just goes by ‘Justis’.

Games: Alpha Protocol (GOTYEY), Saint’s Row 2, Team Fortress 2 (before the scout patch), QuakeLive, PARSEC47, Syobon Action, Kamen Rider Climax Heroes OOO, Street Fighter IV, Persona 3, Neverwinter Nights, Dark Souls, PlanetSide 2, CoD4, Counter-Strike

Music: Almost anything 80s, Neo-prog, Normal prog… the occasional Jason Mraz and the lovable Priscilla Ahn. He’s not all justice and muscles. He has a soft spot (probably where his brain is meant to be). “UGUUUU ☆*:.。. o(≧▽≦)o .。.:*☆”

Academic Focus: BA in Film and Television, and an MA in JUSTICE (not legally binding).

Chi Villafuerte

About: Chi has been playing videogames since she can remember. Growing up with 5 older brothers whose videogame rules dictated that the youngest sibling always play last, she developed a certain curiosity and love for games as soon as they were more available to her. Though her childhood consisted mostly of console gaming, she currently prefers PC gaming. Chi is pursuing a career in foreign affairs but will always have time for videogames.

Games: DotA2, DotA Allstars, Heroes of Newerth (before they went F2P), StarCraft II, Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, Final Fantasy X, Final Fantasy VII, anything that has Tekken written on it

Music: Smashing Pumpkins – they are their own genre, Metal, some Electronica, some indie game soundtracks, Nuevo Flamenco

Academic Focus: BA in Mass Communications (University of Hertfordshire)

540401_3618416454868_1541637111_nTom Butler

About: Fortunately for Tom, PCGMedia has no formal requirements for any staff to actually be good at videogames. However, Tom’s ineptitude in the gaming arts hasn’t stopped him from loving the media, and he is constantly searching for exciting new games in a vain attempt to find one he’s more than “distinctively average” at.

Games: Dota 2, Age of Empires II, Tetris, Mashed (Wrecked was disappointing), Starcraft II, Dark Souls, SpyParty!

Music: David Bowie, Joy Division, Roots Manuva, Portishead, Talking Heads

AcademicFocus: A degree in Film & Television. Soooooooooo useful.
