In an interview with GameSpot, Tim Schafer from Double Fine Productions says that he’d love to go back to the world of Brutal Legend, and that a sequel is not impossible, though it would require a lot of money.
Since I am both a gamer and a huge metal fan, one of my favorite games of all times is without a doubt Double Fine’s Brutal Legend, I also find Jack Black pretty funny.
During a live stream about Broken Age, Schafer told GameSpot that he’d like to return to the franchise one day. He told the interviewer that he “loves the world and that he would love to go back there.” He also said that he “think that Jack Black might be up for it too.”
Brutal Legend is Double Fine Productions best selling game ever and it costed around $25M to make, Schafer said to GameSpot that it “might be tricky” to get that amount of money.
“I would love to go back to that world or even just do a DLC pack.”
Brutal Legend was launched on Xbox 360 and PS3 in 2009, and on PC in early 2013. In the game, the players take the role of Eddie Riggs, (voiced by Jack Black) a roadie who ends up in a fictional world where he tries to assist the inhabitants who’s been enslaved Doviculus, Emperor of the Tainted Coil. The game has a lot of heavy metal influences and includes several well known characters of the genre, like Lemmy Kilmister, Ozzy Osbourne, Rob Halford and Lita Ford.
If Brutal Legend 2 ever gets released is something hidden in the future, but I bet that a Kickstarter campaign regarding it would be very successful.
