Good news Borderland fans! Gearbox have declared that they want to make Borderlands 3… but that’s all they can give us right now.
“We know we want it and we know it should exist, but we don’t know what it is yet.” said Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford.
“It’s not like we won’t get another Borderlands—it’s just too early at this stage for Gearbox to talk about it in any concrete way.”
Pitchford did state, “loosely speaking” that the next game would likely be “next-gen” and “probably be crazy multi platform.”
As well as Telltale Games’s “Tales from the Borderlands” which is expected out this year, Pitchford did state that there are current Borderlands related developments: “We are doing things in Borderlands that we’ll announce soon, that are good, and that I think people will be really excited about if you love the franchise.”
Borderlands 3 is promised to be a continuation of the story of the first two games, specifically following up on the ending of Borderlands 2. As the most recent Borderlands 2 DLC, Sir Hammerlock Versus the Son of Crawmerax, has been confirmed to be the final DLC for the game, we’ll just have to watch out for new Gearbox developments in future.
