2K Games will finally be revealing the XCOM shooter they announced three years ago within the next few days.

“Firaxis’ critically acclaimed turn-based strategy title, XCOM: Enemy Unknown, has reignited the classic franchise and we feel that the time is right to deliver a new experience within the world of XCOM,” said 2K.

“XCOM is the re-imagining of the classic tale of humanity’s struggle against an unknown enemy that puts players directly into the shoes of an FBI agent tasked with identifying and eliminating the growing threat,” wrote 2K on their official XCOM shooter page.

Last year, a marketing survey conducted by 2K also revealed that the XCOM shooter will be a third-person squad-based game for PS3 and Xbox 360. The screenshots suggest that you will be able to issue commands to team-mates around the map.

Rumor also has it that 2K has renamed the XCOM shooter to The Bureau.

“The creative development of this game has been a collaborative process of discovery and iteration. 2K’s culture allows our studios the freedom to refine their visions, to explore new ideas, and to deliver the best possible experiences for players. Through this exploration, 2K Marin has refined their vision, and as a result the game has evolved into a high-stakes narrative experience imbued with core XCOM concepts,” 2K said.
